Solar Eclipse Awareness Party

Visit the Museum to learn the do's and don'ts of watching the Solar Eclipse!

This is a historical event that will take place on Monday, August  21, 2017.

Join us for a little bit of "Moon walking", refreshments and even receive a pair of protective glasses to watch the eclipse.

Legoland Adventure

Join the Museum for a fun afternoon of learning about the history of Lego's, have fun playing Lego bingo and other adventurous games!

Refreshments and prizes will top off the fun!

Cherokee Storytelling by Tonya Dockery

The McMinn County Living Heritage Museum and E.G. Fisher Library join together to present "Cherokee Storytelling" featuring Tonya Dockery.

This program is part of the Children's Summer Reading Program that is held at the library.  This is a Free program and all participants will receive a ticket to visit the Museum for a free tour during the month of June.

The Midwives' Quilt by Dr. Gail Palmer

"Dr. Gail Palmer has produced a large body of work on the Great Smoky Mountains.... Her books share a native's look at the mountain people, a captivating and entertaining model for communicating local history through storytelling." Betty B. Best, journal editor, Blount County Genealogical & Historical Society, nominated Palmer for the ETHS award. Dr. Palmer holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she served as director of the Advising Center for the College of Communications.

Ikebana Classes by Laura Abbot

Join Laura Abbot for the art of "Japanese Flower Arranging". Students will begin with free style and then on to SHOKA or standing upright style. 

Classes will be held every Friday in May from 10am -12noon 

Class cost: $55 for all 4 classes

Material cost: $26 (for beginners)

Laura Abbot holds a degree in Art from California State University at Los Angeles.

Trash & Treasure Premiere Night

Be the 1st in line to get a "sneak preview" of the largest indoor yard sale in East Tennesssee! One persons "trash" is another person's "treasure".

Don't miss this annual fund raiser that is also a lot of FUN!

Made in Tennessee/McMinn

Starting April 4, 2017, the public will have an opportunity to visit “Made in Tennessee: Manufacturing Milestones,” an exhibit at the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum that illustrates the transformation of Tennessee manufacturing over the past 254 years. 

During this time the Museum will also showcase unique items that were made in McMinn County.

This exhibit will be on display Tuesday - Friday (10am -5pm) and Saturday (10am -4pm) until May 30, 2017
